a plain pancake w/maple syrup can be so comforting! i have a nice memory of staying w/a close friend's family for a month in the summer, and the thing we had for our first dinner together was pancakes and syrup. and yes i do!! partially out of necessity (it saves money and i have lots of allergies), but also b/c i find it rly grounding to cook. it gets me off my screens and back into the physical world, and there's a tasty treat at the end hehe
